Alex grew up in Hawaii and the Philippines, eventually attending Stanford University, where he majored in music. Moving to Los Angeles after graduation, he split his time between tutoring and composing for film, TV, video games, and advertising. During his time in tutoring, he has focused primarily on test prep, from the SSAT and ISEE to the ACT and SAT. When he isn’t writing music or tutoring, he likes spending time with his cats, traveling, over-researching trivial purchases, and nerding out with music technology. Even after a decade of tutoring, he is still holding out hope for that first music theory student.
