About Victor

Victor started his journey towards academic greatness at a young age, graduating from California’s “No. 1 Best College Prep Public High School” and then attending the University of Michigan for his undergraduate degree. While at Michigan, he studied biochemistry and political science and worked as both an undergraduate researcher and a teaching assistant. Here, he fell in love with the thrill of discovery in regards to research and the thrill of helping others in regards to education. After graduating, he moved back to California and attended UCSD, earning both his Master’s degree and his Ph.D in Chemistry. While pursuing his graduate studies, Victor continued his work in research and teaching. He has loved being able to work with students and help them discover the connections between different scientific concepts; he truly wants to facilitate a love of biology and chemistry in his students. Knowing that a student has found value in learning about something new is the impetus for Victor’s dedication to tutoring. And just in case you thought he was a one-trick science pony, don’t you worry! He also has an extensive background in academic writing (he’s got an impressive list of publications) and languages (go ahead, ask him to say something in Mandarin or German)!
