About Emily

“Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it.” –Drax, Guardians of the Galaxy

Emily grew up in San Diego where she attended the Bishop’s School and then went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College in upstate New York. While at Hamilton, Emily majored in Creative Writing and Theatre, graduating with double honors and magna cum laude. Over the last few years, she has worked as a teaching assistant and writing mentor, provided technical editing services to a defense contractor, interned as a press release writer for WordTheatre, and provided administrative and teaching support to Playwrights Project and La Jolla Playhouse. At age 16, Emily was a winner of the California Young Playwrights Contest, and her play earned a professional production at the Old Globe as well as a National Silver Medal and Gold Key Award from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. At Hammer, Emily offers college essay assistance as well as tutoring in History and English Lit/Lang. She loves the jazz rendition of the Mii Channel Song (amongst other great remixes), baby goats, squirmles (aka ‘worm on a string’), and anything Disney (Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar–you name it). She also rode horses competitively for over ten years, sang with her a cappella group Duelly Noted in college, and recently learned to identify different types of dinosaurs pretty well. For the record, her reflexes are very slow, so please do not throw anything to her because she will not catch it.
